Voorheesville - Dorothy Hollner Sacco, 83, of Voorheesville Ave., died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her home. The daughter of the late John and Catherine Keenan Kollner, Dorothy was born in Albany and raised by her paternal grandmother. She was educated at Phillip Schuyler High School in Albany and worked her way up to management positions in banking before she was married. She was a very outspoken young woman - strong willed, determined and always speaking her mind. Also as a young woman, she obtained her own car and traveled extensively. Dorothy was devoted to her church, the Girl Scouts and especially to her family. After the birth of her daughter, Christine, she became an advocate for children with special needs. She was active with BOCES, ARC and the former Cobb School. Dorothy was the wife of the late Ernest J. Sacco, Sr.; mother of Ernest J. Sacco, Jr. (Robin) of Voorheesville and Christine Noel Sacco of Amsterdam; grandmother of Ernest J. Sacco, III and Nicholas A. Sacco; sister of John F. Hollner, III (Cass) of Georgia and the late Frank F. Hollner and Maryann Ertel; cousin and childhood companion of Robert Hollner; sister-in-law of Marion Hollner and the late Jack Ertel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Bethany Reformed Church, 760 New Scotland Ave., Albany. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville.
